We are thrilled to announce our annual "Meeting the Institutions" dinner with this year two very special guests: Lord Brian Griffiths and Professor Hedi Larbi (bios below) on the 10th of June, in London.

Our speakers will give us their views on what reforms were needed in the UK during the Thatcher era and their impacts and how they can be replicated or not in Tunisia.

Lord Griffiths taught at the London School of Economics, was Professor of Banking and International Finance at the City University and Dean of the City University Business School. He was a member of the Court of the Bank of England from 1983-85 and left early to serve at No.10 Downing Street as Head of the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit from 1985 to 1990. As special advisor to Margaret Thatcher, he was responsible for domestic policy-making. Following that he was made a member of the House of Lords as a Life Peer. 

After that he was appointed to the board of Goldman Sachs International and an international advisor to the bank. He has also served on numerous corporate boards in the UK and the US. 

He was chairman of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lambeth Fund and is chairman of Christian Responsibility in Public Affairs. He is currently Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Enterprise, Markets and Ethics (CEME) based in Oxford and London.


Former Minister Hedi Larbi is an Associate Scholar at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He most recently served as Advisor to the MENA Vice President at the World Bank, and from January 2014 to February 2015 served as the Minister of Economic Infrastructure and Sustainable Development in Tunisia. Mr. Larbi has over 35 years of professional experience in economic and social development as both a policy advisor and policy maker, with more than two decades of high level position in the World Bank Group. Mr. Larbi also has substantial expertise in the areas of public policy, economic and sectoral development strategies, private sector development, infrastructure services, social policies and human capital development, public finance and macroeconomic management, infrastructure (transport, water, energy, and urban services), social sectors (education, health, social protection), and more. He has developed, negotiated and supervised major economic and institutional development programs, and public and private investment operations in various social and economic sectors including major infrastructure projects and economic reforms. Mr. Larbi has an excellent knowledge of the economic, institutional, political and social challenges of the MENA region as well as of many Sub-Saharan countries. To a lesser extent, his regional experience extends to Latin American Countries and East and Central European Countries in the context of cross-support and policy advice to governments and World Bank teams. Mr. Larbi holds an MSc in Civil Engineering from the Ecole des Mines de Paris, and an Executive MBA from Harvard Business School.
