Workshops Presentation

  • Workshop 1: Global financial crisis: What are the consequences? What is the role of the MENA region's players?
The world economy has been rocked by recent turmoil after several years of bullish market. What are the likely consequences? How will the global finance and trade architecture be reshaped? What is the balance between government intervention and the market? Would tighter regulation ensure a more balanced economic system?

As far as the MENA region is concerned, what is the impact of this credit crunch and liquidity crisis on MENA? What role can MENA institutions play to stabilize the global economic and financial system? Will the region still offer a better investment potential than developed market?

During this workshop, distinguished experts and executives will share their insights on the current situation and its possible evolution and will debate on the potential role and strategic positioning of the MENA region players.

  • Workshop 2: Skills transferability: Where do we go from here? What are the opportunities available from individual and corporate prospective?
Over the few last years, several hundreds of highly skilled North Africans have chosen to evolve in UK, mainly in the financial sector in the "City".

The current financial crisis will have a profound impact on the financial landscape and the resulting career opportunities in the City. Therefore, from a career perpective, it is only legitimate to ask the question: where do I go from here? What opportunities do I have that best match my skill set? What career path to choose: Geographical mobility to MENA region, redeploying to other industries, taking the entrepreneurship path…?

From a corporate prospective, there are interesting opportunities to pick up talent and the question is: "How can Middle East and North Africa's financial industries attract talents from the city to their developing markets?" "How can Main Street corporate attract such talents to pursue their career in the industry?

This workshop will bring together Individual experts and corporate executives with outstanding profiles in the Financial and Industry sectors. They will be debating the subject through their analysis of the current and future situations as well as their own life experience.
